Mitsubishi Chariot was a small luxury small spacious family-friendly 5-door multi-purpose station wagon built in 1983 for a comfortable and pleasurable urban city driving journey experience. This trendy and sporty MPV was popularly known by some other names such as Mitsubishi Space Wagon, Mitsubishi Nimbus, and also Mitsubishi Expo in Japan.
The initial generation chariot model was introduced in February 1983 and was designed with a front engine, front-wheel drive with an alternate option of four-wheel-drive layout structure. It was offered with multiple power train varieties of 1.6 liters, 1.8 liters and 2.0 liters of both gasoline and turbo diesel fuel engines. It was also powered by 3-speed automatic, 5-speed manual and 4x2 speed super shift manual transmission.
The second generation was presented in the year 1991 after having an eight year long gap of the previous version consisted of a longer wheel base with a greater length, width, and height dimensions. The inside design was also offered with increased space and capacity to accommodate seven to eight people. It was also equipped with 4G643B four-cylinder engine with both choices of 2.0 liters and 2350 cc power train fuel engine variations with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission.
The third Generation was successfully launched on the 17th October 1997 known as Chariot Grandis in Japan. The term Grandis clearly denotes the large and grand design appearance with a wide interior space for passengers. It was offered with 2.0 L, 2.4 L, and 3.0 V6 fuel engine powered by 4-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual transmission.
